With Mobile World Congress well behind us, all eyes last week were set on arguably the coolest event (on the other side of the Atlantic) of the year in March: SXSW Interactive, or SXSWi for short.

This year, President Obama delivered a keynote address at the event, encouraging attendees to use tech to support democracy. As if that wasn’t enough, we caught glimpse of a rare double rainbow following POTUS’s speech. Perhaps it was a sign?
During the remainder of their time at SXSW, a number of folks from our U.S. team took some time to explore the sights and sounds at Interactive. Some of our favorite experiential booths included:
- McDonald’s Loft virtual reality experience
Our SVP of Brand Sales, Sky Holden, had to be dragged away from this immersive experience in which a Happy Meal teased the user as he/she painted a blank canvas.
- HBO’s Game of Thrones or “SXSWesteros”
Here, visitors had their picture taken and added to the ominous “Hall of Faces”. We also got to “peer into Melisandre’s flames” to get a sneak peek of the upcoming season thanks to some cool holographic technology.
After a long day on our feet, this booth was an ideal hangout spot.
The team rounded out their evenings by hosting several client events, including dinner parties at Justine’s Brasserie and No Va on Rainey, two fantastic restaurants in downtown Austin.
As the sun set on SXSW 2016, we couldn’t help but begin looking forward to doing it all again next year.
